Animal Health Officer

SALARY: STARTING ANNUAL SALARY: $31,716.00 - $34,644.00

The Missouri Department of Agriculture, Division of Animal Health, has a full-time benefited position available. The counties served by this position will be Phelps, Crawford and Franklin counties. Applicants in other areas considered if willing to relocate.

Job Description:
This is technical and investigative work for the Missouri Department of Agriculture in the enforcement of animal health and animal care regulations. The person in this position will be responsible for the enforcement of state and federal animal health and animal care statutes and regulations administered by the Division of Animal Health. Work involves conducting investigations of alleged violations of animal health and animal care statutes and regulations. Work in the Animal Care Program involves the inspection of commercial breeders, pet shops, kennels, animal shelters and related facilities for proper licensure and compliance with animal care statutes and regulations. The person in this position must be able to communicate effectively and to prepare complete and concise reports. The person in this position must also be able to adapt to and work in adverse weather conditions, work varying schedules and travel extensively in the performance of duties. Perform other work as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with specialization in agriculture, animal science, criminal justice, police science, criminology, public or business administration or related areas; OR Four years experience in civil or criminal investigations, inspections of companion animal industry which affords a knowledge of animal care facility operation and animal welfare requirements.
