The Missouri Department of Agriculture (MDA) is seeking grant applications from organizations or groups of individuals interested in enhancing the competitiveness of the state's specialty crop industry.
Missouri Department of Agriculture Director Jon Hagler and Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster today announced phase two of Operation Bark Alert - a crackdown on unlicensed breeders in Missouri.
"These grants can allow producers like Shatto dairy to explore innovative ideas, add value to their operations and provide high quality products for consumers at the same time," said Dr. Hagler, director of the Department of Agriculture.
On June 4, the Department of Agriculture was notified of a piroplasmosis-positive horse and immediately took action placing a quarantine on the Raytown Equine Center and put all of the horses at the facility on 24 hour surveillance.
The Missouri Department of Agriculture took action to protect dogs living in inadequate conditions at an unlicensed breeding kennel near Seymour, MO, located in Wright County.
