State Milk Board
State Milk Board (SMB) was created in 1972 to encourage orderly and sanitary production, transportation, processing and grading of fluid milk and processed milk products for consumption intrastate as well as interstate. Missouri's nearly 950 grade A and 398 manufacturing grade dairy farms places it in the top 23 milk producing states. With 43 grade A and manufacturing grade processing plants Missouri has production growth potential.
Recent Milk Production
Wholesome, stable, and high-quality dairy product assurance is maintained through inspection and ratings oversight of dairy farms and dairy processing plants by SMB staff and contract services provided by St. Louis County Health Department and Springfield-Green County Health Departments.
